Harold Edward English, Jr. was born February 25, 1918, in Kansas City to Harold E. and Wilhelmina “Minnie” Millink English.
English received a disability discharge in May, 1943, after a year of Army service in the Pacific Theatre as a Technician fourth grade. TEC4 was a rank of the United States Army from 1942 to 1948 - created to recognize enlisted soldiers not trained as combat leaders, but possessing special technical skills, like medics, radio operators and repairmen, mail clerks, mechanics, cooks, musicians, and tank drivers.
After the war, English worked as a steamfitter, then joined Gallegher and Speck Elevator Company.
He married Dorothy C. Hayes around 1941; they had five sons and a daughter who died in infancy.
Technician Fourth Grade Harold English died June 21, 1994; he is buried with his family at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
