PVT Dorsey W. Dockery
1906 – 1923
USAR
WWI

Dorsey William Dockery was born in 1906 in Cuba Township to Jefferson and Minnie Meyer Dockery.

Private Dorsey Dockery, Infantry soldier, was one of 900 troops aboard the U.S. Army Transport Cambrai, which sailed on December 15, 1922, from Ft. Hamilton, New York for Honolulu, Hawaiian Territory. The troops onboard were unassigned to Regiments pending their arrival; they were likely to have been involved in the expansion of Ft. Shafter or Schofield Barracks near Honolulu. Source: https://www.fold3.com/image/604017093/1921

The Veterans Administration records list a date of death for Dorsey William Dockery as March 6, 1923, so Private Dockery probably died in Hawaii within three months of arrival.

Private Dorsey W. Dockery is buried with his parents in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
