John T. Zaccheo

John Thomas Zaccheo was born April 11, 1927, in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, to Thomas and Celestina Zaccheo.

He was a soldier in WWII, returning to earn a BS in Civil Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology in 1953.

Zaccheo married his wife, Jeanne Corbett before 1975, they each had two children from prior marriages.

In 1976, he introduced Chicago-style deep pan pizza to Salt Lake when he opened Zaccheo's Hansom House, and was its sole proprietor for 25 years. After a brief stint as a retiree, he then opened Mr. Z's restaurant in Salt Lake, which he ran for 10 years.

Zaccheo will be remembered as a civil engineer, an entrepreneur, a politician, a political strategist, a world-wide traveler, an artist, a skier, a social commentator who published numerous editorials in the Salt Lake Tribune, a Rotarian for more than 50 years and an avid golfer.

On January 20, 2022, after a long, rewarding and productive life, John T. Zaccheo passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is buried with his second wife, a Barrington Hills native, in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
