Donald William Whynot was born November 1, 1923, in Chicago, to John L. and Anna Paul Whynot.

Whynot graduated from Lindblom Technical High School in 1942, then attended the University of Illinois for two years before World War II interrupted his studies. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946, assigned to follow and support the Army Infantry as the front moved through Belgium, Holland and into Germany, where he found himself on VE Day.

He married Florence Sylvia Jensen about 1947, they had a son.

Whynot worked for Motorola as an engineer and salesman, later purchasing an electrical components company, M&S Sales. He was a Life Member of the American Legion and a longtime member of the VFW.

Five years after his wife’s death in 2001, Whynot moved to Deltona, Florida, where he remarried.

Donald Whynot died on in Florida in 2013; he is buried with his wife Sylvia in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
