PVT Roy E. Nute
1886 – 1948
USAR
WWI

Roy Edward Nute was born October 27, 1886 in Dundee to George E. and Harriet “Hattie” Brewer Nute.

He enlisted on September 18, 1917, and served as a Private in Company D, 132nd Infantry in World War I until January 23, 1918.

There is some question about Nute’s marital status: there was a marriage between Roy Nute and Anna Toppel in Kane County, on April 17, 1918. Yet, in the 1920 census, he was living with his parents, working on their Dundee dairy farm, listed as a single man, not a widower.

On his WWII Draft Registration in 1942, Roy E. Nute lived in Barrington and listed his brother Harry as next of kin.

PVT Roy Nute died September 3, 1948, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
