Waldo Arnaud McGaw was born November 9, 1909 in Louisa County, Iowa, to Rev. James S. and Anna Adams McGaw.

He graduated from South High School in Denver, and attended the University of Denver. He was employed by Jewel Tea Company in Barrington before the war.

McGaw married Doris Alice Williams in Denver on December 7, 1935; they had two sons.

He served in the 1770th Service Command Unit in World War II, a field supply and staff organization for U.S. Army Ground Troops in Europe.

Private Waldo A. McGaw died in Barrington on October 4, 1948, and is buried with his wife at Evergreen Cemetery.
