PFC Harry J. Lyon

Harry John Lyon was born February 17, 1891, in Wisconsin, to Charles E. and Mary Lerch Lyon.


Before World War I, Lyon was a lineman for C&NW railway, living in Harvard.


Lyon enlisted on May 2, 1918, and was assigned to Company D, 55th Infantry. He departed for France on August 3, 1918, where the unit participated in battles in Lorraine. He was discharged as a Private First Class on June 28, 1919.

 
No documentation of Lyon’s residence or livelihood after 1919 was discovered. No documentation of marriage or children was found.


PVC Harry Lyon died September 27, 1947; he is buried alongside his father at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
