William A. Anest

William A. “Bill” Anest was born March 25, 1933, in Greece to Apostolos “Paul” and Giannoula “Jane” Anastasopoulos. In 1945, the family emigrated to the U.S., where they shortened the family surname to Anest.


Anest attended the University of Illinois and was a member of Phi Beta Pi fraternity.
He married Olga Clara Sorichetti; they raised two children.


Anest served in Korea in the U.S. Army, then founded State Oil Company in Libertyville with his brother. The brothers ran gas stations in the 1960s, and eventually became one of the largest station owners and gasoline distributors in the Midwest.


William A. Anest passed away on December 19, 2019, at his home in Vernon Hills, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
