Eugene Anthony Yates was born January 9, 1928, in Racine, Wisconsin, to Edward and Josephine (Brandt) Yates.

He was a veteran of the Unites States Army serving as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.

He married Retha Fern Wilcox on October 25, 1952 in Algonquin; they had three children together.

Yates enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, archery and card games.

Staff Sergeant Eugene A. Yates, 82, of Poplar Grove passed away June 12, 2010 in Belvidere; he is buried with his parents in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
