LT John S. “Jack” Keating Jr.

John Stuart “Jack” Keating Jr. was born on April 25, 1932, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to John S. and Anne (Burns) Keating.


He spent his early years moving around the country as the son of a naval captain, and attended the Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts. From 1946 to 1947, Keating and his family lived in Tsing Tao, China, an experience he carried with him throughout his life.


He graduated from the ROTC program at Northwestern University in 1954, then spent 1954-57 as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Stickell (DD-888).


He married Carolyn H. Frey in Chicago on December 11, 1954, and they had two children. On January 31, 1970, he married Suzanne Banks; they had three children.


He was a highly accomplished entrepreneur and real estate developer, serving as president of U.S. Land Company for 15 years, then broker and developer for numerous other commercial real estate ventures,


Lieutenant John Keating, Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in Danvers, Massachusetts; he is buried with his wife at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
