Robert Reynoldson
1844 – 1923
Co. F, 9th Illinois Cavalry
CW

Robert Reynoldson was born October 18, 1844, in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, to John and Polly (Shawl) Reynoldson.  The family relocated to Illinois and took up farming in Lake County before 1860.

In the fall of 1864, the 9th Illinois Cavalry Regiment required a draft, having taken a high number of casualties, and many 3-year service terms among the enlisted troops. Reynoldson was an unmarried resident of Cuba Township when he was drafted into service for the Union army in October 1864, and served until October 3, 1865.

After his military service, he married Catherine Heinlein, on May 27, 1877, in Chicago; they raised six children.

Reynoldson was a milk dealer before he assumed responsibility for a farm in Cuba Township, retiring to the Village of Barrington some years before his death.

Private Robert Reynoldson died June 20, 1923, in Chicago; he is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
