PVT Otto E. Radke
1900 - 1918
USAR
WWI

Otto Edward Radke was born on December 2, 1900, in Barrington, to Gustav and Augusta (Buhrmann) Radke.

Radke grew up in Barrington, and left high school to work; he was highly spoken of by those who came in contact with him.

Shortly after the United States entered World War I, Radke enlisted at only sixteen years old. His Regiment – the 132nd Infantry, 33 Division - went South for about a year for training on the Texas border, then deployed to France in May, 1918.  In volunteering to fight for his country before he was subject to conscription, he set a splendid example in patriotism.

Private Otto E. Radke was killed in action on October 11, 1918, in France. He rests forever with his parents in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
