Thomas Francis McGraw born February 27, 1891 in Cary, to John and Charlotte (Hudson) McGraw.

Before entering the service of his country McGraw worked on a farm 5 miles northwest of Barrington, and he was well known in the Kelsey neighborhood.

He wrote his mother in September before his death, that he had been to the front six times and was in some of the biggest battles against the Germans. In the closing months of the war, the 128th Infantry participated in several major campaigns including Alsace, Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne and Meuse-Argonne. For their fury in combat, the nickname "Les Terribles" or "The Terrible Ones" was given to them by the French.

Private Thomas McGraw died of wounds received in action while serving with Company F, 128th Infantry Regiment in France on October 7, 1918. He is buried with his family in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
