Ruth Marie Anderson was born February 2, 1922, in Chicago, to Vigo and Louisa (Slodek) Anderson.

She completed her nurse’s training in Chicago, in April, 1944, then served as an Army nurse during World War II. 

Second Lt. Phillips died May 4, 2020, in Mesa, Arizona. Note: While her official burial site is at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, she directed that some of her remains be placed with her mother, Louisa Anderson, at Evergreen Cemetery, where she is honored with other Veterans buried there.
