Laurence Raymond Massé was born in Holland, Michigan, on July 27, 1926, to Laurence J. and Gladys (Tidd) Masse.
Massé proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, then graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, in 1950.
He married Barbara Kranendonk on December 21, 1948, in New York City; they raised two daughters. He married his second wife, Pamela, In 1982.
Massé rose through the ranks of several Fortune 500 personnel and administration organizations to lead executive search firms Heidrick & Struggles and Ward Howell, where he retired as Chairman and CEO in 1999.
After his retirement, Massé was involved in Barrington civic and community activities. In 2016, he wrote and published his autobiography, I Don't Know How That Happened- My Life Story.
Massé passed away on February 13, 2021, in Barrington, and rests in Evergreen Cemetery.
