Heinrich Friedrich Anton Lageschulte was born March 1, 1845, in Westphalen, Germany, to Gerhardt and Anna (Landwehr) Lageschulte.

Six years after his arrival in this country, on the day after his 20th birthday, Lageschulte enlisted in Company H, 156th Illinois Infantry. He served until the end of the war, mustering out on September 22, 1865.

He married Elizabeth Meiners on March 8, 1867; they had three children before her untimely death. In 1876, he married widow Emma Bauman on August 23, they shared two children.

Lageschulte was a farmer in Barrington Township, where he was a community leader, serving as a tax collector and highway commissioner for Barrington Township for nineteen years. He was an originator of the Barrington Township Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and served as its President for many years. He was also the President of Evergreen Cemetery Association, and Commander of the local Grand Army of the Republic post.

Private Frederick Lageschulte died in Barrington on November 20, 1920.   He is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
