C.P. Pratt returned to the city Sunday after a two week vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Hapke and family visited with relatives at McHenry Sunday.

J.B. Turnbull who has been on the sick list for the past two weeks is on the gain.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Freund were McHenry and Pistaqua Bay visitors Thursday.

Mesdames Erksine and Lancelot Oaks of Chicago are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. M.S. Ford.

Master Victor Meyers of McHenry is spending the week in our village with Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Hapke.

Go to the Woodmen picnic at Barrington, Thursday, August 9. It is going to be the big picnic of the year.

Mrs. Charles Kirwin returned to her home in Avondale after a week’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Spencer.

Mr. and Mrs. B.H. Sodt, Mrs. D. Lamey and Mrs. Crouse of Barrington, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Maiman Wednesday.

Mrs. Harrison accompanied by her daughter and niece took a trip to Ringwood and Geneva Lake last Friday and Saturday.

Messrs. Edward, Bert and Harry Vail, who have been spending the past two weeks at Meadiw View, returned to the city Sunday.

Matthew Freund and sister, Misses Mary and Catherine Freund, J. Seegar jr., Misses Magdalen Hand and Marie Jung, were Pistaqua Bay visitors Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Ham, Mrs. M.J. Grosvenor and Misses Edith Turnbull and Daisy Grosvenor attended the Wallace shows at Waukegan last Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Price moved into the Caddie Smith residence the first of the week which they recently purchased, and will see how they like the west side for a change.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Seeger and son John and nieces Misses Hand and Jung, who have spent the past month at their summer home on the banks of our beautiful lake, returned to the city Tuesday.

At a meeting of the Republican county committee the county convention was called for August 24, at Libertyville, E.W. Brooks was appointed to fill the vacancy of Robt. Harrison on committee.

Mrs. P.N. Welch of Glencoe, Minn, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. James Welch after an absence of fourteen years. Mrs. Welch, was formerly a resident of this community and with her husband and family moved to Minnesota in 1886.

P.P. Ames of Antioch was a business caller in our village Saturday, canvassing for the new Aurora Gas Lamp. The lamp appears to be all that is claimed for it, and if it has lasting qualities is certainly the best thing yet placed o nthe market, as its light is hardly surpseed by an electric arc lamp.

Wm. Hogan and wife of Chicago are spending this week with Mrs. Schaefer.

John Hodge, who taught school here last year, is spending a few days here this week.

S.R. Paddock, of the Enterprise-Register, was in Zurich on business this week.

Miss Julia Packard has gone to Waukegan to taken an examination to enter the hospital at Elgin.

Theo. H. Ficke was in Barrington Tuesday.

The foundation of the new church will be started this week. S. Fritz will do the mason work free of charge. Lake Zurich will have a neat house of worship when completed.
Wm. Buesching, jr., had a runaway this week. The horse became frightened at the train and ran against Fred Hoeft’s buggy, upsitting it and smashing it generally. No one was injured.

The case of Lake Zurich vs. Wolf, which came up for trial on Wednesday evening, was decided for the village. George Spunner appeared for the village and Wolf’s interests were looked after by Bennett & France.

Several from here attended the dance at Algonquin Thursday evening.

The Ladies’ Aid society held a picnic in Thomas’ grove Thursday of last week.

Miss Ethel Kitson of Barrington is visiting at the home of Miss Mary Stein’s.

George Janesberg and Ben Nelson of Chicago were seen on our streets Thursday.

Misses Josie McGraw and Lizzie Dowark took in the excursion to Devil’s Lake Thursday.

Misses Josie McGraw and Estella Catlow spent Sunday at the Hazel Dell summer resort.

Louis Smith has purchased a new threshing machine and will be ready for work next week.

Miss Josie Seely, who has been visiting at J. Wire’s, returned to her home in Chicago Wednesday.

The M.E. Sunday school held a picnic at Fox River grove Thursday. A pleasant afternoon was spent by all in attendance.
