Wayne Walker Snider was born on May 11,1923, in Clearwater, Nebraska, to Walter and Hazel (Hoffman) Snider.

Snider married Lavonne Hopkins in Nebraska on August 17, 1946; together they raised two sons and three daughters.

He attended The University of Nebraska where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, and remained a life-long Cornhusker fan.

Snider was a Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945; he served in WWII in the South Pacific as a B-25 pilot, flying in 46 combat missions and receiving The Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. He was subsequently employed by United Air Lines for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was described as a true patriot, with a sharp wit, willing to share his opinion on most any subject.

Lt. Snider died peacefully on July 4, 2014 in Wauconda, and rests forever with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
