Donald Joseph Killian was born March 16th, 1934, in Bloomington, IL to Laughlin and Margaret (Bethea) Killian.

Killian graduated from Trinity Catholic High School in Bloomington, Illinois, and The University of Notre Dame in 1956 with a B.S. in Commerce.

Upon graduating from The University of Notre Dame, Killian was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy and served on active duty from 1956-1962, and in the Naval Reserves for an additional 3 years. He was stationed on the USS Rowan Destroyer DD782 and on a Mine Sweeper. He completed his service as a Lieutenant, a Naval Aviator stationed in Pensacola, Florida.

Lt. Killian married Dolores “Lori” Sullivan on April 26, 1958 in New Berlin, Illinois; together they raised seven children.

In 1965, he went on to earn a Master's in Business Administration from Bradley University and his Chartered Financial Analyst certificate in 1967. Killian enjoyed a very successful career in Asset Management building three successful companies.

Killian enjoyed of classical movies, music, cigars, dancing, sailboats, the mountains, trains, snow skiing, family trips, scuba diving, and tennis. His sense of humor was immeasurable as well as his generous and kind spirit and giant heart.

Lt. Killian passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, and rests in Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
