Richard J. Meinhard

Richard Joseph Meinhard was born on June 6, 1931, in Chicago, to Frederick and Dorothy (DeJarlais) Meinhard.

 

He grew up in Oak Park, graduating from University of Illinois with Bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1953, then served with the Army counterintelligence corps in Austria for the next two years.  

 

Meinhard married Mary Bell McGarry in Buffalo, New York on June 16, 1956 before returning to U of I for a Master’s degree.  The couple raised six children together in Barrington, where Meinhard was a teacher of mathematics at Barrington High School for 30 years.

 

Veteran Meinhard passed away on October 6, 2000 in Barrington, and rests in Evergreen Cemetery.
