Sanford Peck was born on August 13, 1848 in Lombard, Illinois to Sheldon and Harriet (Corey) Peck, who were among the first white settlers in Lombard, Illinois.

He enlisted before his 16th birthday on June 16, 1864, and served a 100-day tour. He later attended Wheaton College.

He was united in marriage to Susan Stover, who died in 1883. Soon afterward he relocated to Barrington and married Elizabeth Grace “Lizzie” Dunning on March 12, 1885. There were two children by each marriage.

Professionally, he was a merchant, a dry goods dealer and a Realtor.

Civil War Veteran Sanford Peck passed away on September 23, 1923 in Elgin, Illinois and rests at Evergreen Cemetery.
