WAUCONDA.

Rev. F. Wolfe transacted business in the city Monday.

James Welsh spent Sunday with relatives at Waukegan.

Born - To Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Welch Monday, a baby girl.

H.E. Maiman and H.T. Fuller transacted business in the city Tuesday.

L.A. Jones went to Clinton, Ill., Tuesday to attend the funeral of his mother.

A reception was tendered the new M.E. pastor, Rev. Mr. Gee, and his wife at the parsonage Tuesday evening. A good turnout is reported and the reverend gentleman and wife were fittingly received into our midst.

Our Dakota land speculators returned home this week well pleased with their trip and satisfied with their business transactions.

Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Hill went to Waukegan Wednesday for a brief visit at the home of their daughter, Mrs. A.C. Stevens. They will then journey to Kansas to spend the winter.

G.C. Roberts returned home from Chicago Tuesday, where he has just completed a course in optics. Mr. Roberts is now equipped with a full set of instruments and lenses and guarantees absolute satisfaction to all who give him a trial.

PALATINE.

Miss Clara Taylor went to Lockport, Ill., Wednesday to spend a few days.

Ernest Beutler returned to work in Chicago Tuesday after two weeks illness.

Gustav Schulz has been very sick the past two weeks, but is slowly recovering.

Thanksgiving services at St. Paul’s church next Sunday morning. Collection for widows and orphans.

Fred Schumaker has been confined to the bed the past two weeks with a threatened attack of typhoid.

Mrs. J.W. Smith and daughter reunited with their cousin, Miss Netta Lombard, at Barrington, Thanksgiving.

Two good suppers will be served at the bazaar next week. Articles for the bazaar may be left at the parsonage next week.

MIss Selma Torgler has accepted a position in a dressmakers’s establishment in Chicago, and will begin work the 1st of January.

Mr. and Mrs. Hulett of Chicago visited her mother, Mrs. Mary Staples, last week. Mrs. Staples had a slight stroke of paralysis, but is recovering nicely.

Misses Adella Smith and Vashti Lambert attended a reception given in honor of the Jefferson Park teachers, at the home of Mrs. Lamkey in Irving Park, Saturday.

Rev. and Mrs. Smith and Miss Ida of Park Ridge, Miss Cornelia Smith of Richmond and Miss Harriet Smith of Austin ate turkey with A.G. Smith and family Thursday.

G.H. Arps, R.M. Putnam and A.G. Smith attended Odd Fellows lodge at Cary Monday night. A fraternal circuit was formed by Wauconda, Barrington, Cary and Palatine lodges.

The Palatine Republican club elected the following officers Tuesday night: President, A.G. Sutherland; vice president, C.D. Taylor; second vice president, R. Mosser; treasurer, J.W. Frye.

Don’t forget the ladies’ bazaar at the Methodist church next week Thursday and Friday in the church parlors. Many handsome and useful articles and cook books will be for sale during the bazaar. Everybody come and buy useful presents for Christmas.

Palatine won from the Sioux Indians by a score of 28 to 0 Thursday thus ending the season without a defeat. In the afternoon the Palatine High School defeated the Victors by a score of 16 to 0 in an interesting games full of punts and sensational features.

Palatine defeated the strong Evanston Farmers football team on Nason’s field last Saturday by a score of 6 to 1. Had not the visitors laid down on pretended injuries at the close of the last half Palatine would undoubtedly have scored again. The Farmers attempted trick plays, which availed nothing, while Palatine won by straight football. The victory places the Palatine team in a position to claim the 140-pound championship of Cook county.

LAKE ZURICH.

Louis Geary transacted business at Wauconda Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sholz visited at Chicago Thursday.

Miss Bertha Holland of Chicago visited her parents this week.

N.L. Miner has succeeded Mr. Snyder as operator at the E.J. & E.

The Lake Zurich Golf club exercised their new iceboat Thanksgiving Day.

J.C. Meyer of Huntley spent Sunday with his brother and sister at this place.

Henry Berghorn is ill with lung fever. Dr. Black is the attending physician.

William Eichman, Jr., is in the employ of the telephone company repairing the old line.

Mr. and Mrs. John Dickson visited at Chicago the past week with their daughter Bell, who departed for Iowa.

Burglars entered the saloons of Wm. Bignase and E. Shenning Monday evening, consequently Bignase is minus an overcoat and $13 in change, Shenning being deprived of a revolver and $12 in loose change. Locking the door does not prevent a burglar from gaining an entrance.

BARRINGTON.

Mrs. Robert Purcell visited in Milwaukee last Tuesday.

Arthur Schroeder spent Sunday with relatives in Menoqua, Ill.

Dr. and Mrs. E.W. Olcott entertained Chicago relatives this week.

George Page, who has been dangerously ill for three weeks, is recovering slowly.

Joseph C. Allbright of Michigan City, Ind., was greeting friends here Saturday.

Dr. and Mrs. C.W. Coltrin of Oak Park enjoyed Thanksgiving at the Castle home.

Edward Heimerdinger and wife of Woodstock visited with Mr. and Mrs. G. Heimerdinger.

Robert Purcell, engineer on the Fond du Lac tocal, has resumed duty after two weeks lay off.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Lane of Lee Center, Ill., are guests of their daughter, Mrs. George W. Spunner.

Mr. and Mrs. John Wolf of Chicago were guests at the home of their son Fred Wolf, Wednesday.

Mrs. Charles Heimerdinger of Vulcan, Mich., is visiting with relatives and friends here this week.

Miss Zoe Stott of Genoa, Ill., was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Stott Thanksgiving Day.

L.O. Brockway and wife and the Misses Brockway of Waukegan visited with relatives here this week.

Mrs. William Hager, who has suffered of inflammatory rheumatism for several weeks, is slowly recovering.

Mr. and Mrs. Smyser of Des Plaines and MIss Cora Schutz of Palatine were guests of Mrs. J.I. Sears, Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alverson entertained Misses Agnes and Edna Wlaters, sisters of Mrs. Alverson, from Albany, Wis.

Dr. Peck of Chicago, who is a stockholder in the Bowman Dairy company, inspected the buildings of the company at this point, Tuesday.

Stephen Palmer, J. R. Moores, C.H. Morrison, I.B. Fox and Silas Robertson were at Cary Monday night to make a fraternal call on brother Odd Fellows there.
