WAUCONDA

Republican caucus next Friday, August 22.

Mrs. Kauffman of Chicago is a guest of Mrs. C. L. Pratt.

Miss Kitty Carroll of Chicago was a guest of Miss Nettie Murray the first of the week.

H.E. Maiman returned home Friday, after a three week’s visit with relatives in Iowa.

James Barnes of Grayslake is spending the week in our village at the home of J. Mullen.

Frank Rohr, after a week’s visit in our village, returned to his home in Chicago Wednesday.

Messrs. Stees and Arthur, the railroad promoters, were in our village Tuesday and Wednesday.

Frank and Vesty Murray and Howard O’Neil of Chicago spent Sunday at the former’s home in our village.

Miss Kitty Reilly returned to her home in Grayslake Wednesday, after spending a week in our village with relatives.

The ball game Saturday between Wauconda High school and Grayslake was a rather one-sided affair, the Wauconda team being victorious by a score of 37 to 3.

Our shoemaker, Carl Ericksen, will move to new quarters August 22, having rented the lower rooms in the old meat market building, where he will be pleased to meet all patrons, old and new.

Mrs. Francis Bangs, who has been spending the past few weeks with relatives and friends in our village, left for Dakota Wednesday morning, where she will visit with her sons, Louis and Lorn Bangs.

Mrs. R.C. Kent and daughter, who have been spending the past few weeks in our village, left for Valparaiso, Ind., Wednesday, where they will make their home the coming year. Mr. Kent is attending school at the N.I.N.S.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Waelti and family were Libertyville visitors Tuesday. Mr. Waelti has rented the same space on the fair grounds that he occupied last year, and thus our people will be assured a good, refreshing drink of lemonade.

Vivian Gilbert entertained thirteen of her little friends at her home Wednesday afternoon, August 13, it being the 5th anniversary of her birth. They enjoyed themselves in children fashion and concluded the afternoon’s pleasure at 5 o’clock with a fine supper, after which they dispersed; hoping to attend another in the near future.

Notice is hereby given to the republican voters of the town of Wauconda that a caucus will be held in the village council rooms in the village of Wauconda, Lake county, state of Illinois, for the purpose of selecting seven delegates to represent said town at republican convention to be held at Grayslake, August 23, 1902. Polls open 2 o’clock p.m. and close 5 p.m. Per order of Town Committee.

Chas. Morey of Chicago was a caller here Wednesday.

John Kohl made a trip to Highland Park Wednesday.

F.E. Fox of Rockford was here on business Thursday.

Henry Seip and Emil Frank were Chicago visitors Thursday.

Jake Goldberg is entertaining his mother and sister of Chicago.

E.S. Bruce was here this week looking after his ice interests.

Henry Branding and family visited friends in Wauconda Saturday.

Teddy Ficke arrived home Monday from a week’s trip in Michigan.

George Wagner of Barrington was a guest of Gus Fieddeler Sunday.

Lake Zurich was well represented at the circus in Barrington Wednesday.

Gene Brooks and Ray Kimberly of Wauconda made Zurich friends a call Tuesday.

Chas. Seip and family of Palatine are camping on the Heifer place on the Lake shore.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Klipper entertained friends from Long Grove Sunday.

John Pabst and Charles Meyer of Huntley were calling on friends here Sunday.

The Palatine Woodmen will hold their annual picnic here on Saturday, August 30.

Adam Boxberger, the veteran cigar manufacturer of Dundee, was calling on friends here Thursday.

Wm. Prehm, who has now been ill for the past month, is now around attending to his duties as marshal.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wheeler, Mrs. Kimbark and Mrs. Adames of Fox Lake were calling on friends here Tuesday.

Our village dads have purchased six new improved gasolene arc lights of the Searchlight Co. of Chicago. They are a fine light and furnish double the light the old ones did.

Edwin A. Dawson, Horace Dawson, A.M. Ferry, Mrs. Duncan of Evanston, Mrs. Thayer and grandsons, Mrs. Meyers, Thomas Kay and Reese Moore of Chicago are at the home of James Gainer for a few weeks recreation.

The base ball game that was to come off Sunday was postponed on account of rain to August 31. Both teams were on hand with a good line-up. The Giffords are a fine team and don’t forget to see that game. Arlington Heights will play next Sunday.

Rev. Wykoff was a visitor at Elmhurst lately.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Nolte were at St. Charles Sunday.

Mrs. Bessie Kellogg of Elgin was a visitor last week.

Henry Ellert was at home from Harvard over Sunday.

Swain Dahlburn and family were at St. Charles Sunday.

Mrs. H. Unwin entertained a brother from Sandwich lately.

A bus load of married people spent Sunday at Burton’s bridge.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shufeldt and daughters were visitors over Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Orley and children of Chicago are visitors at J. Earleson’s.

Miss Mildred Sleeper will teach in the public schools at Wheaton the coming year.

Wm. Borden and wife of Elgin were guests of their daughter, Mrs. Max Baldwin, Sunday.

Miss Grace Baker has been a Chicago visitor and attending Moody institute the past two weeks.

The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and son Henry gave them a surprise Saturday at their new home on the west side.
