SUMMARY OF ROLE
Assist in the secure and effective administration and configuration of the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Maintain and configure the Library’s network systems, servers, firewalls, switches, applications, and other equipment.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades, patches, and configuration changes to systems administered.
  • Manage server backups.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and system issues.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and perform daily systems maintenance.
  • Ensure daily, successful backups of all server data.
  • Perform regular network security monitoring to prevent disruptive failures.
  • Rebuild network components when necessary because of network crash or failure.
  • Manage IT-related licensing contracts with software vendors.
  • Determine and administer user access, privileges, and security.
  • Research and make recommendations for network and server hardware and software purchases.
  • Assist with development of annual IT budget.
  • Respond to IT emergencies and power outages during and outside of library hours.
  • Provide staff user support as necessary.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, MIS, Business Intelligence, or related technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a network administrator preferred.
  • Knowledge of network services such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, RADIUS, etc.
  • Experience in administration of VMware virtual environment.
  • Windows Server and Client troubleshooting experience.
  • Cisco firewall administration experience.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical colleagues.

Onsite/Remote Work Location
This is a hybrid position which will include both remote work and onsite responsibilities.

Travel Requirements
Occasional travel in local community may be required.
