JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Digital Services Manager, support the overall mission of the library by effectively providing digital library services to customers and the community.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Develop, teach, and promote innovative technology and maker programs within the library and in the community through outreach activities.
2. Provide technical guidance on a variety of applications, software, and makerspace equipment in a group setting and through one on one appointments.
3. Plan and provide training opportunities for staff when appropriate.
4. Deliver excellent service to customers of all ages and assist them with a variety of technologies, such as e-books, digital media production and personal devices.
5. Prepare and maintain web content as appropriate.
6. Troubleshoot basic equipment repairs within the maker space, digital studios, & game rooms.
7. Stay abreast of emerging technology by researching significant topics and trends in the field.
8. Maintain expertise by reading professional literature, attending workshops, networking meetings and seminars.
9. Ensure all policies and procedures of the Barrington Area Library are followed.
10. Serve on planning committees and attend library meetings as requested.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Other Requirements:
• Completion of bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Design experience is preferred.
• Work experience in a public service industry is required.
• Familiarity with makerspace technology, content creation and media production is required.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and iLife suite is required.
• Ability to travel locally is required.

Physical Requirement:
• Regularly required to see, walk, sit, talk and hear.
• Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
• Physical dexterity involving frequent computer use throughout work shift.
• Occasionally handle light materials as needed to perform job tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
