Part-Time IT Help Desk

The Barrington Area Library is looking for a part-time IT help desk team member to assist staff with technology. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library.

This team member will:
➠ serve as first point of contact for staff on IT issues,
➠ communicate effectively with staff while troubleshooting,
➠ participate in projects such as updating software and replacing hardware within the Library, and
➠ provide 1-1 instruction on technology to staff as needed.

About you:
➠ You excel at providing customer service.
➠ You have relevant knowledge of and experience with PC and Mac systems, along with Microsoft Server and Office products.
➠ You're motivated by the opportunity to help others.

Salary & Benefits: The salary range is $18.00 - $27.02 per hour. Benefits are not included with this position. Flexibility in scheduling is required for all staff.

Part-Time Page
Material Services

The Barrington Area Library is recruiting for a part-time Page to join our Material Services team. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library.

This team member will:
➠ use our automated system to sort materials,
➠ shelve a variety of materials in all areas of the Library, and
➠ work independently within the Library.

About you:
➠ You are dependable.
➠ You are detail-oriented.
➠ You enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
➠ You are eager to learn new skills.

Requirements and Skills:
➠ Ability to pass shelving test
➠ Ability to read 8-point font print
➠ Physical dexterity to reach shelves of various heights and push carts throughout your work shift
➠ 16 years of age or older

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This year-round position will average 12 hours per week and earn $9.32 per hour. A tentative weekly schedule will include every Monday and Friday evening (5 - 9 PM) along with Saturday afternoon (1 - 5 PM). Flexibility to cover or trade shifts is required.

Event is from 1 – 4 PM, volunteers start at noon.

Teen volunteers needed for the following positions:

1) Craft assistant
2) Photographers (photo booth and/or roving)
3) Videographer
3) Green Screen Digital Studio assistants
4) 3D Printing assistant
5) Scavenger Hunt assistant

Adult Services – 2 projects (potential for on-going)

Interested in volunteering at the library? Do you have computer and technology skills? The Adult Services department is looking for volunteers to scan microfilm and digitize historic local newspapers. If you are a history buff, this might be the project for you. A library representative will contact you and we will work with your schedule.

Hours: Flexible, depending on your availability.
Task: Digitizing
Requirements: High school or older. Basic computer experience with an understanding of file structures and a keen eye for detail.
