Part-Time Associate | Customer Service

The Barrington Area Library is recruiting for a part-time Customer Service Associate to serve as the first point of contact at our service desk. This means everything from greeting people with a smile as they enter to resolving account issues and helping users navigate Library resources. Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This position will have a varied schedule, averaging between 20-28 hours per week, including day, evening, and weekend shifts. Flexibility with scheduling is required of all Customer Service staff.

The salary is $14.38 per hour. This position includes participation in IMRF’s retirement plan, and earns vacation, sick and holiday benefits.

Senior Custodian | Building Services

The Barrington Area Library is recruiting for a full-time Senior Custodian. This position offers a variety of responsibilities in a busy and innovative library. This key team player will work with the Building Services Manager in providing and maintaining a safe, clean, welcoming facility.

A successful candidate will:
➠ Regularly monitor and maintain the Library’s building structure, systems, and grounds.
➠ Perform custodial and janitorial tasks throughout the building and on the Library grounds.
➠ Perform meeting room set up and take down, and cleaning of the furniture and rooms.
➠ Respond promptly to urgent cleaning tasks and ticket requests.
➠ Deliver materials and packages to appropriate staff and departments.
➠ Operate building machinery, systems, and equipment.
➠ Maintain inventory of building supplies.
➠ Serve as team lead, including on-call responsibilities, when delegated.

Salary/Schedule/Benefits:
The starting pay begins at $17.27 per hour. Relevant experience may be taken into consideration. The tentative work schedule, averaging 37.5 hours per week, is: Monday and Tuesday, 8 AM – 4 PM, Wednesday – Friday, 10 AM – 6 PM. This position also requires one Saturday per month, 8 AM – 6 PM, with the weekday schedule adjusted accordingly during those weeks. Flexibility with scheduling is required of all Building Services team members.

This position is eligible for the Library’s benefit package including medical, dental, and life insurance, with some plans at no cost to the employee. The position also earns paid vacation, sick and holiday benefits and participation in the IMRF Pension plan.

Part-Time Assistant Librarian  |  Adult Services

The Barrington Area Library is looking for an Adult Services team member with a passion for customer and community service.

This person will:
➠ serve as primary point of contact for customers at service desks,
➠ actively promote Library services, materials, and programs to customers,
➠ provide reference and reader’s advisory services, and,
➠ assist customers with a variety of technological devices and applications.

➠ You have relevant technology and digital media experience.
➠ You’re inspired by what makes our Library and our community unique.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This part-time librarian position is scheduled for an average of 19 hours per week (includes day, evening, and weekend hours). Flexibility in scheduling is a must for all team members and the hourly wage begins at $18.91 per hour.

Volunteer Opportunity: Seed Sorting Project

Teens and adults: help us grow a great new service! The Library is accepting volunteer applications for a Seed Sorting project, as we prepare for the grand opening of our new Seed Library. Volunteers will be asked to sort and package seeds for distribution. The ability to see, sort, and package small seeds is necessary.
Available dates: January - March 2020
Available hours: Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM
