Henry Beinhoff and Henry Brasel have a steam engine with which they are sawing wood. They intend to build a shop and do general carpenter work this winter.

A. J. Meyer put a furnace in his house this week.

Charles Shufeldt, who is running a grocery store in Chicago, spent a few days with his mother last week.

Carl F. Meyer, one of Chicago’s prominent young businessmen, was married to Miss Zoa Siser at the residence of the brides parents, Wednesday, Oct. 21st, at 8 o’clock p.m. Rev Plumb, of Palatine officiating. The presents were many and handsome. They will reside in Barrington. Mr. and Mrs. Meyer have the best wishes of the community.

Dr. D. A. Smith and wife, of Chicago spent a few days last week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Crabtree.

Miss May Crowley of Chicago was here Saturday.

Mr. Charles Coltrin, of Nyrack, New York, was married to Miss Lotta Castle at the home of the bride’s parents, Thursday evening, Oct. 22nd, 1891, at 8:30 o’clock. The spacious rooms were decorated with cut flowers and presented a very beautiful appearance. The presents were numerous and useful. They were serenaded by the Barrington Amatuer Band. Mr. and Mrs. Coltrin left for Nyack, New York, Monday, where they will reside. Their numerous friends wish them much joy.

Miss Margaret Lamey spent Sunday in Chicago.

Mr. J. O. Selleck has moved in the M. E. Parsonage.

A slight change is the time of passenger trains went into effect, Sunday, Oct 25th. The Dakota train which formerly reached here at 10:52 p.m., leaves Chicago at 3:25 p.m., and arrives here at 4:46 p.m. The Woodstock passenger leaves Chicago at 4:05 p.m. and arrives here at 5:33 p.m., with the exception of Sunday when it leaves the city at 4:45 and reaches here at 6:12 p.m. The last Barrington train will leave Chicago at 9 o’clock p.m. and arrive here at 10:20 p.m. All the rest of the trains run on the old time.

Mr. Wm. Hager is working for the Chicago and North Western Railway Co., with the carpenters.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Shultz, of Shaumburg, were the guest of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Hawley Sunday.

Henry Johnson is working on the section.

James McAlpine has gone to Plainfield, Ill.

Mr. Clarence Brockway, of Chicago, is visiting at Mr. Brockway’s.

Miss Grace Bennett and Mrs. M. E. Bennett, of Chicago, were visitors here Saturday.

Edward and Fred Heimerdinger were here last week and were among the number that witnessed the marriage of C. F. Meyer.

Mr. Aug. Miller has raised his house and is having a stone and brick foundation built under it.

Mr. Sherfield is engineer on the first Barrington train while Mr. J. O. Selleck is taking his vacation.

Mr. Cooper, candidate for President of Board of Cook County Commissioners, was in the town Saturday.

Aug. Mattes, whos has been clerking at Mr. A. L. Waller’s drugstore, was called to his former home Des Moines, Iowa, on account fo the death of his mother. He will not return to Barrington.

During the past year several fine new homes have been built which add greatly to the appearance of our village.

In writing upon the use of foods, a physician makes the statement that if a man addicted to the use of intoxicants will eat an orange half an hour before breakfast every morning for three weeks, he will loose all taste for liquor and gain in health and strength.
