A concert will be given at the M. E. church Friday evening, Sept 11, 1891, consisting of readings quartettes, duets, and very fine instrumental music. Admission 15 and 10 cents.

Mr. Edwards and daughter, Miss May of Carpentersville, attended the M. E. Sunday School picnic Wednesday.

Miss Laura Church visited friends here Monday.

Mrs. Leroy Powers and Miss Bertha Sawyer went to Carpenterville Tuesday to attend the funeral of Grandma Sawyer.

Guy Fischer went to Chicago Wednesday.

Miss Clara Sodt visited friends at Evanston and returned Wednesday.

Misses Zoa and R. Nimpskey of Wauconda was the guest of Miss Effie Runyan, Wednesday.

Mrs. Theo. Richardson of Chicago visited at Mrs. Colburn’s this week.

Will Harrower is spending this week at home.

Mrs. G. Heimerdinger, who has been visiting in Chicago, returned home Monday.

Mark Bennett and Miss Ethie Boyce were married at Kankakee, Ill., Aug. 22.

Mr. and Mrs. Otis attended a funeral at Elgin last week, Monday.

Miss Libbie Joyce is visiting at C. M. Vermilya’s.

Miss Mary Kellogg of Elgin was here on business a few days last week.

MODERN WOODMEN ATTENTION.

Mrs. Seebert gave her Sunday school class a party Thursday afternoon.

Mr. H. Harnden of Chicago is visiting H. A. Harnden.

Mrs. J. Fischer of Chicago was here last week.

The M. E. Sunday school picnic was held Wednesday. A large number attended and all had a good time.

The merry-go-round is attracting a great deal of attention this week.

Two cars were off the track Sunday, but (unreadable)ing inside of the switches no trains were delayed.

Will Lamey, of Ouslow, Iowa, was a visitor at E. Lamey’s, Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. L. F. Schroeder’s claim against the Metropolitan Accident Association was paid promptly. Although small it shows the manner in which the Association treats its members.

Misses Alice and Edith Fischer of Chicago have been visiting friends here durning the past week.

Mr. John Roberts and family have returned from their cottage at Lake Zurich.

School commences Monday.

The Barrington public school will commence the fall term Monday, Sept. 7th, with Prof. L. B. Easton as principal, assisted by Misses Mary Frye, Emma Barnett, Baldwin and Downing.

VILLAGE BOARD MEETING.

The village Board met in regular session, Wednesday evening, September 2nd, with President Clark in the chair, Trustee Collen, Robertson, Hawley, Abbott and Sadnman answered o the roll call.

Bills were allowed and ordered paid to the amount of $164.18.

The tax ordinance to raise $2000 was adopted as read by the village attorney.

A motion was then passed to have two cars of gravel ordered from Cary.

The clerk was instructed to notify Garret Frye and John Fryed to build side walks in front of their property in this village.

Board then adjourned until the first Wednesday in October. F. O. Willmarth, Clerk.
